Privacy Policy
This explains what information Squp collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| First and last name, email address | Creating and identifying your account |
| Password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text) | Logging in |
| Posts, comments, ratings, and votes | The core of what Squp does — sharing what you suggest watching, listening to, and reading |
| Friend connections | Showing you the right people's posts in your feed |
| Basic technical data (IP address, browser type) | Security, spam prevention, and troubleshooting |
2. How we use your information
We use your information to operate Squp: showing your feed, letting you post and comment, sending you account-related emails (like verifying your email or resetting your password), and keeping the service secure.
We don't sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Third-party services
Squp uses The Movie Database (TMDB) API to search for and display information about TV shows and movies. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Searching for a title sends that search query to TMDB.
4. Cookies and sessions
Squp uses a session cookie to keep you logged in.
5. How long we keep your data
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we'll remove your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep it (for example, to comply with the law).
6. Your choices
- You can edit or remove your own posts and comments at any time.
- You can control whether you're emailed when a specific friend posts, from the Find Friends page.
- You can request that your account and associated data be deleted by contacting us.
7. Children's privacy
Squp is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including hashing passwords and using secure connections. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know before they take effect.
